About this Session
Design review panels have become a valued tool in planning and development, bringing an independent critical eye to schemes, aiming to raise the standard of design and helping to ensure that development is appropriate to its context. Some experimentation has been done with community design review panels, and there is a growing interest in this as a tool for effective community engagement in design and placemaking. However, there are different models and approaches that can be applied, which can achieve different objectives and outcomes.
It is sometimes hard to know where to start.
At this chat, we’ll be considering different approaches to setting up and managing community design review panels, and exploring the role they might play in informing high-quality design and placemaking.

About the Series
Glass-House Chats is a safe space to ask questions, explore ideas, approaches and methods, share learning and make connections. These are free sessions, conceived for local authority officers but open to all who are interested, to help build confidence and capacity in the sectors to engage communities in design and placemaking
The sessions will be chaired by The Glass-House Chief Executive Sophia de Sousa, who will briefly introduce the theme and then open the floor for an informal and open discussion among participants.
To ensure space for meaningful discussion, places are limited to a small group. Key discussion points will be collated and shared after each session.
