Glass-House Chats are monthly hour-long online spaces for conversation and connection, to ask questions and explore ideas, approaches and methods, share learning and meet others. They are free sessions for anyone interested, and are kept to around 10 participants to allow for open dialogue.
About this Session
The media is full of news on the housing targets set by the government, but how can we ensure that we are creating the right homes for people and communities? How can alternative housing models contribute to creating a range of homes that cater to the diverse wants and needs of those who inhabit them? From volume housebuilders, private developers, council-led, social and affordable housing providers to community-led, co-housing and self-build, there are a myriad of approaches, but what have we learnt?
Our October Chat will explore how rethinking the way we shape our housing can help us reconsider not only where we live, but also how we live. How do we create the conditions for better homes for everyone, be it housing our homeless or our ageing population, catering for different levels of care and support, providing multi-generational family homes, or simply creating a range of opportunities for those of any age and household make-up to rent or buy a home?
About the Series
The sessions will be chaired by The Glass-House team, who will briefly introduce the theme and then open the floor for an informal and open discussion among participants.
To ensure space for meaningful discussion, places are limited to a small group. Key discussion points will be collated and shared after each session, and Chatham house rules are kept when sharing any points from the event.
