Glass-House Chats are monthly hour-long online spaces for conversation and connection, to ask questions and explore ideas, approaches and methods, share learning and meet others. They are free sessions for anyone interested, and are kept to around 10 participants to allow for open dialogue.
About this Session
Public transport plays a vital role in connecting families, friends and more generally to essential services, such as employment, entertainment and social activities. It supports the daily lives of our villages, towns and cities, and provides logistical links between them.
However, current transport systems can also divide and isolate communities, creating barriers to people whether using public or personal modes of transport. Much of our transport infrastructure is outdated and contributes to nearly a quarter of all carbon emissions.
This chat will explore whether transport has hit the buffers, and how transport could be reinvigorated to support placemaking and cities more positively.
About the Series
The sessions will be chaired by The Glass-House team, who will briefly introduce the theme and then open the floor for an informal and open discussion among participants.
To ensure space for meaningful discussion, places are limited to a small group. Key discussion points will be collated and shared after each session, with the Chatham House Rule applied when sharing any points from the event.
