ABOUT THIS EVENT

Within the context of adapting to climate change, placing humans at the centre of the sustainable development process is crucial. Participatory design becomes indispensable, especially for communities vulnerable to substantial climate impacts. This project aims to assess existing participatory design practices and investigate how digital solutions can enhance this process, aiding vulnerable communities in fortifying their resilience to climate challenges. Join us for a free, full-day workshop exploring the role of participatory design with participants from the UK, the Netherlands and Norway.

This workshop is a part of a project entitled Navigating Eco-Social Vulnerabilities Through Participatory Design: Uncovering Knowledge and Practical Gaps Across the UK, the Netherlands and Norway, which is funded by the British Academy under their programme Horizon Europe Pump Priming Collaboration 2024. It is a collaborative project involving universities and industry partners across the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Norway. The universities leading the project are Northumbria UniversityDelft University of Technology and Norwegian University of Science and Technology, with support from industry partners Fisher Cheng Ltd and The Glass-House Community Led Design.

You can find out more about the project here.

PLEASE HELP OUR RESEARCH

The research team is conducting a survey to help us explore the use of participatory design in the UK, Netherlands and Norway. We would appreciate your time and input in helping us understand the effectiveness and potential of digital solutions in facilitating participatory design for people-centred urban transition, especially with vulnerable communities.

We would be grateful if you could follow this link to take part.
