Glass-House Chief Executive Sophia de Sousa is one of eight members appointed to an Expert Advisory Panel on High Streets, announced by High Streets Minister, Jake Berry MP on 16 July 2018.

Chaired by Sir John Timpson (chair of multiple service retail Timpson), the panel will explore what local communities want from their high streets, and look at how challenges can be overcome to ensure that high streets and town centres remain vibrant and fulfil the needs of society.

The expert panel, in conjunction with the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), will issue a call for evidence in the coming months which will ask what members of the public and young people in particular want from the high streets of the future.

As well as contributing extensive Glass-House knowledge of supporting community engagement and leadership in design and placemaking, Sophia brings considerable experience of advising councils on town centre regeneration, with a particular focus on the impact of design and planning decisions on local people, and on the role of local people and organisations in making high streets and town centres thrive.
