Glass-House Chief Executive Sophia has recently joined the Barking and Dagenham Design Advice Panel (BDDAP) which will provide independent, expert design advice to support the borough in achieving their objectives and securing the best outcomes and quality of life for residents, workers and visitors through development, regeneration and renewal in the borough. The panel will review development proposals and masterplans, as well as providing other design support services such as early-stage procurement support and planning policy review. The BDDAP is managed on behalf of the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham by Design Council Cabe, and is made up of an interdisciplinary panel of 21 individuals chosen from Design Council Cabe’s network of Built Environment Experts (BEEs).
The Glass-House is also active on a number of other panels advising on city-wide regeneration and on the design of significant schemes. These include the Historic England Urban Panel and the Oxford Design Review Panel.
Our presence adds another dimension to panel sessions and design reviews, constantly championing and testing the connection between the proposed schemes and people, how they can contribute to the process for change, how the change will affect local people and sit within the local context, and how people might experience, use and enliven the place when it has been transformed.
