This event, held on 7 October 2021 in partnership with the London Forum of Amenity and Civic Societies and Urban Design London, brought together diverse voices across and disciplines together to explore the opportunities and challenges of engaging communities in formulating local design codes. This was a space to look at these questions from a range of perspectives, and to work together to draft some practical recommendations for enabling locally based collaboration through design.
This publication captures the key findings of the event, and maps the journey through our dialogue with participants. We hope it will continue to provoke discussion and debate, and offer inspiring and practical ideas on how to meaningfully engage local people and organisations in co-designing design codes.
