Incubating Civic Leadership (ICL) explores approaches and processes to help enable active citizenship, supporting community leadership and cross-sector collaboration in placemaking. This knowledge exchange project, funded through Research England’s Higher Education Innovation Fund (HEIF), is a collaboration between The Open University, The Glass-House Community Led Design and Knowle West Media Centre. We also worked with local partners LB Redbridge and Muslimah Sports Association on a locally based initiative.
As the project draws to a close, Filmmaker Emma Crouch of i say RAAR has crafted three further films.
The first two short films focus on civic leaders with whom we had collaborated through our Empowering Design Practices research project, who have continued to inspire us. There is also a short film with key messages combining insights from the two places.
