This is the first contribution to our our new online series: What’s Vital Now?
As the world begins to emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic and a period of enforced physical isolation, What’s Vital Now? will share voices from different communities, sectors and disciplines, on what we can do to create more inclusive and sustainable places that bring people together while responding to the needs and aspirations of our diverse communities.
The series will explore how placemaking can unlock the potential in people and places, enhancing the quality of our homes, high streets, public spaces, and neighbourhoods and enabling opportunities, interactions and collaboration across all echelons of society. Using the simple premise of What if..?, we are inviting contributors to share their ideas, big and small, for what will drive change and create better places for people.
Our first contribution is from Angela Moore, a married mother of six children and grandmother of two granddaughters. She and her husband Mark manage the Tabot Centre, a community facility based in South Kilburn, which has provided after school and school holiday care for children aged 4-12 years since 1998. Since working together back in 2005 on the Granville New Homes project in South Kilburn, Angela and The Glass-House have collaborated on a number of initiatives to share what we learned through that project, and to inspire others to work collaboratively to shape where they live, work and play.
