From October 2025 through March 2026, The Glass-House Community Led Design collaborated with a range of partners across sectors and communities to convene a national conversation exploring the theme of multigenerational places. Our 2025/26 WEdesign series, Multigenerational Places, asked how we can create places that better meet the needs of our different generations and at the same time, help us connect with each other across age groups. Multigenerational Places brought people together through in-person and online co-design events, a student programme and design competition, and a series of Think Pieces.
This Manifesto is our call to action for shaping places that better cater for, and enable connections across, people of all ages. It captures key recommendations and voices of people around the UK who took part in the 2025/26 WEdesign Series, Multigenerational Places. It also shares some co-designed propositions for changes to policy, practice and culture that emerged.
We are grateful to all our WEdesign 2025/26 partners: Intergenerational National Network, UCL Bartlett School of Planning, Mackintosh School of Architecture at Glasgow School of Art, Missing in Architecture, Newcastle University’s School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape, the Farrell Centre, The University of Sheffield School of Architecture and Landscape, Live Works, Israac Somali Community Association and Arup. A huge thanks also goes to the contributors and participants of all ages who have helped make this a memorable series.
